The Playlist Generator lets your couples build their event playlist themselves —
searching Spotify from their portal and picking the exact tracks they want — and puts
the finished playlist straight into **your** Spotify library, ready to play at the
event. Works with Spotify.

## How it works

1. **You connect once.** In **Settings → Playlist Generator**, connect your business
Spotify account. You approve access on Spotify's own site — GigBook can create and
edit playlists, and never sees your password.
2. **Couples pick their songs.** On their event page, couples open **Build your
playlist**, search any song or artist, and add tracks to their list. They can
reorder or remove songs any time, and preview anything via the **Play on Spotify**
links. There are three ways in: the **Build your playlist** button under their
checklist, the link in the **Music** section of the
[planning form](/planning-form), and any checklist item whose name mentions music,
songs, or a playlist. All three work even before you've connected — the page just
explains that search isn't available yet, and keeps anything already picked.
3. **The playlist lands in your library.** When the couple hits **Send to DJ's
Spotify**, GigBook creates one private playlist for that event in your connected
account (or updates it in place if it already exists — no duplicates). You can also
trigger a sync yourself via the [API](/using-the-api).

## Already have your music sorted?

Not every couple wants to pick tracks one at a time, and some have their playlist
finished before they ever open the portal. Below the picker there are two alternatives —
both hand the music straight to you, and **neither touches Spotify**:

- **Link to a playlist** they already made — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, anything with
a URL. Saved on the event and shown to you as a link you can open. It is *not* copied
into the picker or synced to your account.
- **Upload a song list** — a PDF, screenshot, Word doc, text or CSV file, up to 10 MB.
Stored for you to download. GigBook doesn't read or parse it.

Either can sit alongside picked tracks; they're additions, not replacements. Couples can
change the link or remove an upload at any time.

## For DJs

- Each event gets **one playlist**, created private in your account. Re-syncs update
that same playlist, so your library stays tidy.
- **Disconnecting** (Settings → Playlist Generator → Disconnect) removes GigBook's
access tokens and deletes all cached song picks. Playlists already in your library
stay yours — they're never deleted by GigBook.
- The couple's picks are also visible to you in their event, so you can review the
  list before the big day.

## For couples

- Search is live Spotify search — if it's on Spotify, you can add it.
- Your list saves as you go; you can come back and change it any time before the
event. Re-sending updates the DJ's playlist to match your latest list.
- Song search is available once your DJ has connected their Spotify account. If you
see a notice that it isn't available yet, your DJ just hasn't connected — let them
  know!
